Period Poverty PSA

Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

Category: Publication Design, Advertisement

This trio of images is an ad campaign based around the idea of period poverty. The challenge for this was to create a public service announcement focusing on a social issue. To solve this challenge, I created an advertisement of a fake product that will catch the eyes of the reader flipping through a magazine. Most magazines are rather chaotic at times, with blocks and blocks of easily skippable text and large images of people. This simple, almost monochromatic, ad has minimal text and makes for a quick skim, which means that most readers will take in the information. They may not take it in fully, but it could stick with them. Maybe next time they see a box of pads or the wall of tampons at their local retailer, they'll be reminded of this ad and look more into period poverty.
